Inception (2010)
Director: Christopher Nolan
Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page and Tom Hardy
Summary:
A science fiction thriller in which Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief and spy who steals corporate secrets through the use of a dream-sharing technology. Cobb is a fugitive who misses his children follwing an incident with his ex wife. He inserts himself into a subject's dream to obtain information without them knowing. Saito (Ken Watanabe), approaches Cobb and wants to hire him but instead of extracting information from him, he wants to implant the process of 'Inception' in him, which is not easy to do. Although Cobb is hesitant to do it, he agrees after Saito offers him to go back home and return to his children.
My Review:
I found this film was quite interesting to watch as it is a unique twist on the modern day film thriller genre. I felt as though viewers may find the film confusing because of its complex plot and frequent transitioning between dream time and reality. The script was high quality, the music fit the film perfectly and of course, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page' acting was strong and performed really well. Personally, I'm not a big fan of these types of movies but I found this film entertaining and intellectually engaging. The ending left the audience questioning whether Cobb was in a dream or reality which I thought was such a great cliff hanger to a spectacular film. Overall, Inception was enjoyable. Due to its complexity, it can be watched several times and I guarantee you may find other elements to the film you didn't notice before. I recommend you watch this film!
My Rating: 8.5/10
