The Longest Yard (2005)

Director: Peter Segal

Stars: Adam Sandler, Burt Reynolds, and Chris Rock

Summary:  A former NFL star now prison inmate is given the challenge by the prison warden to form a football team full of inmates to play in a nationally televised game against prison guards.

My Review: Classic but a goodie. Really enjoyed this movie back when I first watched it in 2005 and I still enjoy watching it now. Adam Sandler plays the perfect role of someone who is able to bring a team of rough inmates together through the bond of hatred they have for the guards. If you love the story of underdog look no further than this movie. If the adversity the inmates have faced throughout their lives isn’t enough already, the guards try to break up the bond forming in the team through dirty acts. The best parts of the movie are seeing how the team of inmates constantly respond to the guard’s corruption and abuse of their power. Would recommend this film to any sports lover especially those who enjoy American football.

My Rating: 8/10
